I'm a regular visitor to your sacred website. I browsed first when 3 years ago, at our seminary we were preparing the Christmas novena and wanted some Byzantine material to include in our prayers. Since then I have never failed to visit stirene.org. Your website serves as a window to discover the latent beauty of Byzantine liturgy and the Orthodox Church. It has been of immense help to prepare myself to spend 3 months in Kerkyra, last Spring. May God bless you all and may one day we all be one!

My parents tell me that I was barely two-years-old the first day I stepped into the Monastery of St. Irene Chrysovalantou. It was my first time venerating the miraculous icon. I do not remember the day, of course. But it excites me to know that I had managed to kiss the icon (with the help of my mother).

Now, twenty-nine years later, I find myself once again taken back into the years that were, the years that are, and the years that will be. And I smile to myself knowing that, in what was, in what is, and in what will be, this amazing Saint will be there...if we can only manage to believe in the power that our Almighty has gifted her.

We have always made our way to New York to pray for St Irene. Her miracles remain endless in our family. She has helped my family thru sickness, job difficulties, and all other requests. May she offer the community and world, health, forgiveness, and peace.

I have not been to the Monastery in NY to visit her, but have learned so much about this most amazing Saint through this great website. May she continue to guide the Patriarchal Monastery into much prosperity.

My days just seem to turn out much better when I stop by the Monastery to light a candle before I begin my day. Although I have so many great memories through the years of this Holy place, the simple ones are the most memorable to me. Just stopping by to see the Miraculous Icon in the morning before I head out to to the chaos of NY City really helps me get through my day. These moments are those that make up my fondest memories.

Although I must admit that I do not attend church as often as I should, for some reason, the Divine Liturgy of Palm Sunday morning is one that (every year) particularly stands out in my memory. I can't quite explain why. Perhaps it is the aura of the great procession of the Palms, or that of the sea of people proudly waving Palm branches in the air as they join as one, singing the wonderful and touching hymns of that day. The Monastery overflowing with faithful. People just seem to come from everywhere and slip into any corner they can find, many with tears in their eyes, until the Monastery cannot possibly hold any more people. People bussing from Chicago, from Ohio, from Pennsylvania, from New Jersey, it seems from everywhere. And the hymns, how amazing the choir sings them. It is quite an unbelievable experience that really brings goose bumps.

I love to listen to the fiery sermons of the Abbot. His passion is amazing and his words have such deep meaning. He really has a way of taking you into another world when he speaks. Sometimes find myself on the brink of tears when listening to him. I am so happy to see some of his sermons on this website, and would love to see even more of them !

One memory that stands out was when I saw the Abbot sweeping the sidewalk and taking the garbage out at around 11:30pm after a Monastery festival !

St. Irene has helped my family and I through numerous difficulties through-out our lives. I personally owe so much to her. May her name be glorified unto the ages of ages.

One of the things that stand out to me as a memory is the aura of the processions in the streets of Astoria. When the Monastery marches, those patriarchal flags waving in the wind, the banners and the crosses, it creates an awe inspiring sight that brings goosebumps.

Chrysovalantis is eight-years-old this year. Time passes by so quick since our blessed Saint Irene Chrysovalantou blessed us with his birth 8 years ago. Since then she has been a tireless guardian both to him and to the rest of our family.
