The Great Feast and annual celebration of the Sacred Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Irene Chrysovalantou, is quickly approaching. This celebration attracts every year thousands of faithful to venerate the Miraculous Weeping Icon of the Saint. The Feast brings to Astoria thousands of people from all over North America, to witness the lively presence of the Saint and Her obvious and famous miracles.
SCHEDULE OF THE SERVICES
His Grace Bishop Philotheos of Meloa,
representative of His All Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch,
will preside over the Services on Saturday Vespers and Sunday.
FRIDAY July 27
7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Great Vespers of the Feast and the Blessing of the Bread.
SATURDAY JULY 28,
FEAST DAY OF SAINT IRENE CHRYSOVALANTOU
8:00 - 11:00 am. Orthros and Divine Liturgy, by the V. Rev. Archimandrite Ierotheos Zacharis, Abbot of the Sacred Patriarchal Monastery.
7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Great Hierarchical Vespers, Salutations of St. Irene Chrysovalantou and the Blessing of the APPLES, in a special Service, followed by an all-night vigil.
SUNDAY JULY 29
8:00 - 11:30 a.m. Orthros and Hierarchal Divine Liturgy, officiated by His Grace Bishop Philotheos of Meloa, Representative of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The Great PROCESSION of the Miraculous Icon of St. Irene Chrysovalantou will follow. During the Procession, sick and needy faithful will pass under the Miraculous Icon of the Saint.
7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Vespers and Paraklesis Service of the Saint.
